ARC: Connections: ELMAR: How to Post Directly
In addition to posting by sending email to elmar@ama.org, you can "self-post" by using the ELMAR Web site. The second option gives you a potentially faster posting process with more control over formatting. The editor can be a little tricky however, and seems inclined to insert many extra spaces especially when you are cutting and pasting from Word.
Self-posting is accomplished from the ELMAR "Archive", from any folder under Archive, or from any individual posting in any folder. All postings are stored under Archive, which appears on the left hand nav bar.
Near the top of the screen, on the grey horizontal nav bar, the words "Add" or "Add New" now appear for any logged in subscriber. Clicking on these words will take you to the Add screen allowing you to add a posting (also called an article). You can give it a Headline, include your name as Author, place the posting in an appropriate Subject folder, and write the Introduction paragraph. The Headline and Introduction paragraph are seen by subscribers in the Community Update emails, and these may sometimes be modified by the Moderator.
Lower on the screen you will see a sort of word processor, called the Visual HTML Editor, that allows you to paste or type in your announcement. The visual editor has numerous buttons for adding links, effecting format modifications, pasting from Word, and for many other functions. The visual editor also gives you the option to add or change the HTML source code if that sort of thing is fun to you.
Of course all postings, either emailed or self-posted, are subject to moderator review. As mentioned above, the moderator reserves the right to modify the posting Headline and Introduction paragraph; to time the release of the posting to subscribers; and to change the posting category (folder).
At this time, all categories of announcement are open to subscriber posting with the exception of Administrivia and News: TOCs.
