In TRUST AGENTS, Chris Brogan and coauthor Julien Smith argue that effectively earning trust online will be one of the most important skill sets for any business that wants to succeed in today's "trust economy."

Our culture is experiencing a trust deficit, from being burned by the financial crisis and from being sold to by too many slick advertisers as far back as the days of "Mad Men", say the authors.  Trust now has to be earned by new rules for influencing others’ buy-in without betrayal. “The Web has changed to be more humanized,” the authors note, “and the people who will succeed in understanding this and using the Web to build business are called Trust Agents.” In TRUST AGENTS, you’ll hear how success at marketing is changing toward becoming a Web presence and force—someone who influences others’ buy-in without self betrayal.

By downloading this podcast interview of Julien, you'll learn:

  • How you can create a trust agent
  • How you can use a trust agent
  • How you can use a trust agent within your own company

About the author: Julien Smith is an author, consultant, and speaker who has been involved in online communities for over 15 years– from early BBSes and flashmobs to the social web as we know it today. He was one of the first people on the web to use podcasting in 2004, as well as being one of the first web personalities to get broadcast by traditional radio. He has since worked with and been interviewed by numerous media organizations such as CNN, CBC, CTV– and a bunch of others that don’t start with the letter C. He is co-author of Trust Agents, which was written with Chris Brogan.
