Summary

Data from Aberdeen's April 2008 report, Technology Strategies for Multi-Channel Integration, shows that the top two benefits of using IT-based software and hardware capabilities as a service from a third-party in retail are return on investment and lower cost of ownership. This analyst insight provides details about the retailer's perspective regarding cloud-based IT services in recessionary economic times that are likely to carry over into 2009 and maybe even 2010.

This report dissects the reasons retailers consider cloud-based services an opportunity to further glean retail methodologies that minimize cost of operations. The research showcases the technology as well as the business drivers prompting some retailers to consider the "cloud" as an alternative to traditional use of IT software and hardware capabilities or established IT delivery models.
