The CMO Survey: Optimism for U.S. Economy on the Wane
If you ask today’s marketing executives, especially those from B2B companies, there’s not much in the economy to feel good about. More than 500 CMOs weighed in on their view of the economy as well as other issues associated with marketing their brands and the results aren’t pretty. The latest results of The CMO Survey conducted between July 17, 2012 and August 3, 2012, clearly demonstrate that CMOs are less optimistic about the economy than they were six months ago.

Campaign Corner: Kaiser Permanente ‘Thrive’
No matter how you dice it, nine years is a long time for a campaign to run. As health systems go, Kaiser Permanente is one of the largest, serving more than 9 million members across nine states and the District of Columbia. The Oakland, Calif.-headquartered health care provider recently launched the latest installment of its nine-year advertising campaign, Thrive, in conjunction with the beginning of this summer's Olympic Games in London.

Management-by-Exception Leadership:
A leadership style wherein sales managers intervene only when their salespeople have failed to meet their performance standards (e.g., a sales quota). If sales personnel are performing as expected, the sales manager will take no action.
