Name:  Josh Mueller
Title: Cutco Sales Professional
Company:  Cutco Cutlery/Vector Marketing
Education:   Business Administration Degree

Work Experience
:
In the past, Josh has worked in various industries.  Past jobs have included canoe rentals, providing in-home health care services, fast food manager, restaurant host, cook, dishwasher and manager.  At one time, he worked in a manufacturing plant as a wood cutter.  Josh currently has seven years experience as a top distributor for Cutco Cutlery.  He is only the eleventh person in the company’s sixty year history to personally sell over $1 million of Cutco products.  In addition to being a sales leader, Josh is also contracted as a consultant to provide leadership training and business coaching to over 150 of the company’s top salespeople.  Josh and his wife, Amiee, have also helped successfully train people in multiple industries on how to build successful sales organizations.  Combined, they have over twenty years of sales and marketing experience and make a great team that strives to add value to those they help.

What I do:
I focus on multiple areas within our company.  I’m a firm believer in building multiple strings of revenue.  Not only do I save and invest a high percentage of my income, but I also built my business so that revenue is generated from multiple markets.  I’ve utilized direct sales in home, business to business sales, trade show sales, the service industry, and simple current client marketing to help grow and develop a reputation of world class customer service amongst my clients.  I’ve also remained on the cutting edge by using new programs created to help recognize the best ways and find new ways to market our products and showcase our most talented people.  I continue to find ways to automate my business and spend and invest my time more efficiently.

How I got there:
I’ve had many mentors and coaches along the way.  What I love about our business is that over the years we’ve fostered a culture of helping others to achieve success.  I’ve never had trouble learning the strategies used by successful people in our organization to find success.  As I’ve grown through the business, I’ve also made it my number one priority to help people learn what they can do to build a sustainable, profitable business.  I truly believe in the philosophy that givers gain and that the more we serve others and help the people around us grow, the more it pushes us to grow ourselves and stay ahead of the pack.  Also, I strive to find ways to serve the community.  Through charitable organizations I’ve developed lifelong friendships with people who share the same priorities of helping people in need of a positive influence in their lives.  Networking and sincere relationship building are keys to long-term sustainable success.

Skills needed:
I’ve found that there are many skills needed to build and run a business for yourself.  You always need a strong and consistent work ethic, as well as firm values like honesty and integrity.  You need to be aware of your own needs but, realize that the more you put the interests of your clients and colleagues ahead of your own, the more your needs will consistently be met.  Time management skills are necessary.  When running your own business, the biggest challenge is managing yourself.  I live by the code, “I will do today what others won’t so I can live tomorrow like others can’t.”  It’s helpful to take time to find in yourself complete clarity about your goals, your values, your motivations and the types of people you want to surround yourself with.

Advice:
Work hard.  Don’t give up.  Usually the people who make it are the ones who gave it one more push after they seriously thought about quitting.  Remember that Michael Jordan has made more three point shots than any other basketball player in history but he’s missed the most three point shots as well.  Find people who are already enjoying the lifestyle you want and take the time to figure out how they got there.  Surround yourself with the people you want to resemble, and find people who you can help.  Be confident in your abilities to achieve what you want and go after it.  Ask yourself this; How is it people who go to the exact same class, get the exact same materials and lectures can consistently come out with completely different results?  The major difference is the amount of effort and ACTION each person puts into it.  Take massive action and put in consistent effort, and the possibilities are limitless.  Find your potential and go after it.

Biggest misconception:
The biggest misconception that I run into is that things come easily to certain people.  The fact is that most people who have everything they want in life have overcome more challenges than those who don’t have everything they want.  My wife came from nothing and has a lot.  Why?  Not because she was handed everything but because she knew from the very beginning that she wanted more from life than what she started with.  Too many people live their lives waiting for the next big thing to show up on their doorstep.  What they don’t realize is that you have to create the next big thing for yourself.  Get complete clarity on what you want and go after it.  If you put in your due diligence, you’ll find the way.

To succeed and enjoy this position, you need to:
With Cutco you have to commit to following the program we teach in training.  You have to work consistently and take advantage of the ongoing training that our managers offer.  You have to believe in the product (it is the best in its industry, hands down).  You have to network with top people to learn what they’re doing to be successful, and you have to commit to doing what you say you will do when you say you will do it.  The beauty of our job is that we have an amazing product that serves a need every one of our clients has.  We have a training and support system in place that has groomed some of the best in the business world, for over sixty years.  Many CEOs and successful business people started out selling Cutco during their high school or college years.  We have a business model that has proven to be successful no matter what the current economic trends.   Our company has trainers that are committed to helping you get what you want, not only out of the business, but out of life.
