Congratulations Houston!
Thanks to an outstanding yearlong performance, the Houston Chapter set the stage to earn the coveted AMA Chapter of the Year award. The American Marketing Association is proud to announce that the Houston Chapter is the recipient of its 2007-2008 Chapter Excellence Award (CEA).
“Houston displayed great leadership, great programming and innovative membership initiatives,” said DJ Heckes, 2008-2009 CEA Chairperson and one of five judges in this year’s competition. “The Houston chapter’s submission was very well written.” The creative award submission package grew considerable attention from the judges. A mock vintage movie theater stage, replete with velvet curtains and tassels, presented the core submission materials.
The CEA competition was established in 1974 to recognize local AMA chapters for achievements in leadership, membership and programming. Judging of entries was completed over a four-day period by a panel of past-presidents of award-winning chapters and members of the Professional Chapters Council.
For its achievements, the Houston Chapter receives $2,000 and a podium banner. Finalists for the award included the Nashville and Cincinnati chapters which will receive a monetary award and podium banner.
In addition to Chapter of the Year honors, the following awards were also presented to recognize the success of chapters in various areas:
