         2011 SERVSIG AWARDS

    • The American Marketing Association SERVSIG Christopher Lovelock Career Contributions Award is presented annually by SERVSIG to an individual meeting the following criteria: 1) Career contributions should be of long duration, preferably 15 to 20 years, 2) Contributions to the services discipline should be significant, 3) Contributions to the services discipline should be frequent, and 4) Contributions to the services discipline should include recent contributions. The winner of the 2011 SERVSIG Christopher Lovelock Career Contributions Award is:

      Richard L. Oliver, Professor of Management, Emeritus, Owen Graduate School of Business, Vanderbilt University.
    • The “AMA Best Services Article Award” is presented annually by SERVSIG to the author(s) of the best article in the service literature published during the previous calendar year. The winners of the 2011 SERVSIG Best Service Article Award are:

      Chan, Kimmy Wa, Chi Kin (Bennett) Yim, and Simon S. K. Lam
      (2010), “Is Customer Participation in Value Creation a Double-Edged Sword? Evidence from Professional Financial Services Across Cultures,” Journal of Marketing, 74 (May), 48-64.

      Articles receiving honorable mention include:

      (1) Di Mascio, Rita (2010), “The Service Models of Frontline Employees,” Journal of Marketing, 74 (July), 63-80, and (2) Keh, Hean Tat and Jun Pang (2010), “Customer Reactions to Service Separation,” Journal of Marketing, 74 (March), 55-70.
    • The ASU CSL/Liam Glynn Research Scholarship Award is presented annually by SERVSIG. This annual travel scholarship was created in Liam Glynn's name to honor his memory and is supported through donations made by Arizona State’s Center for Services Leadership. The winners of the 2011 ASU CSL/Liam Glynn Research Scholarship Award are:

      (1) Alexis Allen, Florida State University, (2) Christina Jerger, Catholic University of Eichstaett
      Ingolstadtand, (3) Shawn Matthew, Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, and (4) Rebeca Perren, University of Central Florida.

      Additionally, thanks to the generous donation from Glenn Voss (SMU), the Journal of Service Research reviewer of the year award recipient, we would like to recognize the recipient of the first JSR Doctoral Travel Scholarship: W. Adam Powell, University of Tennessee.

    • The Fisher IMS and AMA SERVSIG Dissertation Proposal Award is presented annually by The Initiative for Managing Services (IMS) at the Ohio State University’s Fisher College of Business and the American Marketing Association’s Services Special Interest Group (SERVSIG) for the best doctoral dissertation proposals on Services.  The winners of the 2011 Fisher IMS and AMA SERVSIG Dissertation Proposal Competition Award are: Sabine Mayser (Winner), Nicola Bilstein (First Runner-Up), Claudia Jasmand (Second Runner-Up).
