News for Doctoral Students and Educational Initiatives
The Marketing & Society SIG supports a number of initiatives to educate doctoral students and new faculty members about research and teaching associated with marketing and society. This page provides a summary of prior and current educational activities for young scholars.
Note: Ph.D. students do not need to a member of the MASSIG in order to participate in the following activities.
Student Paper Award
The MASSIG offers a travel award for the best student paper submitted to the Marketing & Public Policy Conference.
Dissertation Proposal Award
The MASSIG offers a Dissertation Proposal Award sponsored by the SIG, Okalahoma State University, and Drs O.C. and Linda Ferrell. Information about the award is available from Dr. Josh Winer, OSU, Stillwater OK 74078.
The winner of the 2006 Marketing & Society Dissertation Proposal Award Competition is Kathryn Sharpe, Duke University (Advisor: Richard Staelin). Title: "Understanding Contextual Effects Leading to Over Consumption". Ms. Sharpe will receive a grant of $2,000. She will be recognized and given the opportunity to present her work at the Spring 2007 Marketing and Public Policy Conference in Washington D.C.
