Conference Theme and General Information
"Excellence in Marketing Research - Striving for Impact" is the theme for the AMA 2009 Winter Marketing Educators' Conference scheduled for February 20-23, 2009 at the Tampa Marriott Waterside in Tampa, Florida. Good marketing research should make an impact by changing what managers do, by sparking new intellectual insights, or by changing what is taught in the classroom. In their most recent editorials, the editors of our major journals have indicated their desires to not allow the past to constrain the future (Deighton 2007), to increase the impact of articles published (Huber 2007), and to be "sympathetic" to truly innovative papers because they often have the greatest impact (Rust 2006). In keeping with these sentiments, innovative papers and special session proposals that strive for impact are especially
General Information
The Winter Educators' Conference is an important forum for current research and intellectual exchange. Manuscripts and special session proposals are invited that present evidence of empirical regularities, explore new theoretical perspectives, suggest practical implications of existing theory, apply new tools to marketing management, provide insights for research drawn from marketing practice and consumer behavior, highlight advances in marketing practice, and/or insightfully synthesize one or more important bodies of literature relevant to marketing. Innovative papers and special session proposals that foster the conference theme of "Excellence in Marketing Research - Striving for Impact" are especially encouraged.
A goal for the 2009 Winter Educators' Conference is to create a program that highlights topics with the potential to enhance the impact of marketing scholarship on marketing practice, public policy, and society at large. This objective is best served by careful scholarship, combined with open and frank discussion of the implications of such scholarship for these three substantive domains. Thus, we encourage authors to present their best work at the conference, whether applied, theoretical, or methodological in orientation. To encourage authors to submit and present their best work at the conference, the option of publishing only an abstract in the conference proceedings is offered. At the time of submission, please specify to the track chair your preference for publication in abstract or full-manuscript form, if your paper is accepted. This choice does not affect the review process. Another goal of the conference is to serve as a professional development opportunity for marketing scholars. This will be accomplished by creating a forum for developing research partnerships and interacting with other conference attendees from both academic and practitioner realms.
Submission Information
The conference is organized around 12 tracks, each with a Chair or Co-Chairs. This includes one track dedicated to the needs of the Special Interest Groups (SIGs) of the AMA Academic Division. You may direct submission of a competitive paper or special session proposal to any one of 11 different tracks or a SIG-related special session proposal to the SIG Track Chair. If you have questions about where to direct your proposals, feel free to contact the conference or track chairs.
[Note: All sessions submitted to the SIG Track must be submitted with the approval of the relevant SIG officers. Please see the list of current SIGs for contact information.
Please note that all competitive paper and special session submissions must be submitted in electronic form through the AllAcademic system.
