Summer AMA 2010 - Boston

ARC: Connections: Conferences: Summer 2010: Submissions: SIG Sessions/Programming

SIG Special Session Proposals and Other SIG Programming

The objective of SIG Special Sessions is to provide value to SIG members as educators and researchers in the interest area as well as to conference attendees. Proposals for SIG Special Sessions should describe the topic and its importance to marketers in the interest area, summarizing the issues to be covered, and identifying individuals who will participate. Specificity in your SIG Special Session proposal is important.

Acceptance odds of SIG Special Sessions are enhanced by well-developed proposals for sessions which provide value to SIG members as well as other AMA attendees. These should be submitted to the Special Session Track Chair via the allacademic Manuscript System just like any other special session proposal.

In submitting Special Session proposals, the organizer and listed participants affirm that, if accepted, all will register and appear at the Conference to present.

Selection criteria include the general quality of the proposal, the level of interest the session is likely to generate at the conference, and the session's relevance to the conference theme.

Anyone interested in proposing SIG programming should contact the appropriate SIG leaders to seek endorsement by the SIG for the session. The list of current SIGs and contact information is always available on the ARC (where you are reading this now) under the "Connections" menu item: AMA Special Interest Groups. All SIGS, including DocSIG, are also encouraged to submit Special Session proposals.

SIGs wishing to create longer and more involved programs may submit a proposal for a pre-conference event directly to the President of the Academic Council rather than the conference chairs or the track chair.

SIG Business Meetings are not considered program sessions.
