Summer AMA 2008 - San Diego

ARC: Connections: Conferences: Summer 2008: CFP: Accepted Manuscripts

Guidelines for Preparing Manuscripts for the Proceedings

The conference proceedings will be compiled from manuscripts submitted by the authors. All competitive papers, whether to be published in full or in abstract form, should be prepared using the guidelines. They should be submitted by the deadline. Manuscripts which do not conform to the guidelines or are not received on time may NOT appear in the proceedings.

Prepare the manuscript following the guidelines below. Then upload the completed manuscript following the instructions Preparing Accepted Manuscripts for Proceedings under Link for Electronic Submissions.

Each author should sign the copyright form. If necessary, separate forms for each co-author can be submitted. Please mail or fax the form to the American Marketing Association by the deadline. The address and fax number are on the copyright form.

Guidelines for Preparing Competitive Papers to Be Published in Full or Abstract

Prepare manuscripts with an IBM-based word-processing package. Microsoft Word is preferred. Other acceptable packages are WordPerfect, WordStar, and ASCII. Use the 12-point Times Roman font. Please proofread your manuscript carefully to eliminate all errors.

For Papers: All papers should start with the full title, centered in all capital letters. Following two returns, each author, university affiliation, and city should then be shown, one author per line. No titles (Dr., Mr., Ms., etc.) should be used, nor should rank be indicated. Following two more returns, the heading ABSTRACT should appear—flush left, in all capital letters. This should then be followed by an abstract of no more than 50 words. The next primary heading should be INTRODUCTION—flush left and capitalized.

For Abstract Summaries: All summaries should start with the full title, centered in all capital letters. Following two returns, each author, university affiliation, and city should then be shown, one author per line. No titles (Dr., Mr., Ms., etc.) should be used, nor should rank be indicated.  Following two more returns, the heading SUMMARY should appear—flush left, in all capital letters. This should then be followed by an abstract of approximately 2 single-spaced pages.

For Both Papers and Abstract Summaries: The basic text should be unjustified, using appropriate primary and secondary headings where necessary. The manuscript should be single-spaced, with paragraphs separated by a blank line. Do not indent the paragraphs. In addition, do not use the return key after the end of a line on the screen—the word-processing program will return automatically.

Primary headings should be flush left, all capital letters, with a space above and below the heading. Secondary headings should be flush left, in title case (i.e., first letter capitalized only with remaining letters lower case), and with a space above and below the heading. For example: PRIMARY HEADING, Secondary Heading.

A complete list of REFERENCES is required at the end of a full paper. Include only the references directly mentioned in the paper. “References available on request” or a similar phrase is acceptable for abstract summaries. Use the Journal of Marketing reference style throughout the manuscript: Italicize the publication name, do not indent or tab the references, and return twice after each reference. References are not included in the final page count.

Include each visual element (e.g., line table, figure) in a separate electronic file in its original format. These files should have consistent names (e.g., Figure 1 should be called “Figure 1.jpg”). Do not embed visual elements in the text. Instead, please specify where in the text the visual elements should fall (e.g., “Figure 1 here”). Embedded visual elements do not reproduce well, so they may be excluded from the proceedings at AMA’s discretion. Visual elements should be submitted in as high a resolution as possible. Use the Times Roman font for tables. Visual elements are included in the final page count.

Maximum paper length is 10 pages, single spaced, in 12-point Times Roman, with one inch margins. (This corresponds with the approximately 20 double-spaced page limit of your original manuscript.) If your paper is longer than 10 pages, please edit it.

Maximum abstract summary length is two pages, single spaced, in 12-point Times Roman, with one inch margins. Minimum abstract summary length is one single-spaced page. Abstract summaries must meet manuscript guidelines and be as thorough as possible.

At the bottom of the paper/abstract summary, type the contact author’s full mailing address in the following format:
