“City Climbing: Scenes from a Chicago Health Club”
At the health club (at high noon) suited men from Amoco Tower come to climb the indoor wall slanted here and there and stretching up: six stories tall.
Formal skins are shed, spidermen emerging with long ropes and webs suspended from distant ceilings
The determined creatures climb high, pausing at odd angles with open mouths.
After climbing there are showers and soap and powder and hair spray to reassemble the corporate veneer lost (temporarily) in the curious ascension.
When the lunch hour ends suited men from Amoco Tower (newly coifed) run for elevators rising toward their work desks fifty-one stories above the asphalt.
