I would like to know about the trend of employers wanting MBAs for almost all positions. How many MBA grads are out there with 10 years working experience?

I’m currently employed in a company in California for the past nine years but am looking to relocate to Oregon.  Prior to relocation and in the current economic conditions, my preferred option is to secure other employment before leaving California.  Have you any tips on how to approach this?

September Questions:

I've been working in advertising sales (cable and print) for 8-9 years now, and I'm looking to transition into a marketing strategy, advertising, or research role. I've been on a few interviews for positions of interest, but they all seem to want a candidate who has experience in the exact role that they're looking for. (Although I know that I'm completely capable of doing the job. Especially coming from the sales side and  well versed in advertising).  How do I  successfully transition from ad sales to marketing?

July Questions:

Could you provide insights on how to network for new opportunities, while you're employed? I'd love to ask agency partners and vendor partners to share any opportunities they might become aware of - yet this request could make partners concerned about our business relationship if I were to leave my position. It seems that I can only network (confidentially) among colleagues at previous companies or among colleagues who've left my current company. What strategies can you suggest for diplomatically - and confidentially - networking while employed?

I've been researching jobs online to determine the defining differences between a marketing manager and a marketing director.  The line between these two roles seems to vary from company to company.  Can you explain the determining factors that sets them apart?

I am currently a graduate student at the University of Utah in the business school and I would like to start a career in marketing.  Do you have any tips or any guidance on how I would begin making contacts that could lead to employment opportunities?

I graduated in 2005 from a state university with a bachelors in marketing. Seeking some sales experience, I got a job with an online university, where I then completed my MBA. I've found myself now put into a position where I'm really looking for a job, but everyone wants prior experience for marketing positions, but I have no practical experience! What should I do to get started on an actual CAREER?
