Lane Cardwell is a 31-year veteran of the restaurant industry, and has worked on 33 chains and with over 75 restaurant presidents and CEOs during this period. He is the President and CEO of Boston Market, the 520-unit originator and leader of the home meal replacement segment. Prior to his appointment to Boston Market he served on several restaurant and restaurant technology corporate boards, including P.F. Chang’s China Bistro and Famous Dave’s, where he was acting-CEO during early 2008.
He worked with Norman Brinker at Brinker International from 1988-1999, serving on their board and as Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer. From 1996-1999 he was the President and CEO of Eatzi’s Market and Bakery, a joint venture between concept creator Phil Romano and Brinker International that pushed the boundaries of the home meal replacement segment with its on-site crew of 70 chefs, bakers and pastry chefs in each location.
Prior to Brinker International, Lane was Senior Vice President of Strategic Planning for S & A Restaurant Corp., and was with S & A from 1978-1988. Norman Brinker founded S & A with the original Steak & Ale concept, followed by Bennigan’s, Bay Street and several other concepts.
