As chief marketing officer for Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA), Evan McElroy has responsibility for building and protecting the Boys & Girls Club brand. He oversees marketing and communications for the national organization, providing strategic direction and services for more than 1,100 local affiliates, which operate some 4,000 service locations domestically and on U.S. military installations worldwide.
McElroy’s team creates and executes BGCA’s brand strategy, through advertising, media relations and publicity, cause marketing, celebrity and alumni relations, editorial services (including the BGCA magazine Connections), Web sites and social media, video, design and production, supply services, licensing, crisis communications, and marketing training for local Clubs. Most recently, his team launched the BE GREAT brand campaign, working closely with McCann Erickson San Francisco, BGCA’s pro bono agency, and developed a new partnership with the Outdoor Advertising Association of America. McElroy developed and has managed BGCA’s relationship with Club alumnus and 17-year national spokesman Denzel Washington.
A 35-year marketing professional, McElroy’s previous experience includes 10 years with Burson-Marsteller, one of the nation's leading public relations firms, and two years with the Panasonic Company.
