The Marketing and Public Policy Conference (MPPC) is the premier national and international event for marketing academics, public policy makers, and marketing practitioners interested in social and public policy. The conference venue is in the heart of downtown Washington D.C. and offers superb access to important historical and cultural sites as well as a spectrum of dining and entertainment options.

Keynote Presentation from Commissioner Maureen K. Ohlhausen
Commissioner Ohlhausen was appointed to the FTC in 2012. Prior to joining the Commission, Ohlhausen was a partner at Wilkinson Barker Knauer, LLP following nearly ten years working in a variety of roles at the FTC. Ohlhausen was on the adjunct faculty at George Mason University School of Law. She served as a Senior Editor of the Antitrust Law Journal and a member of the American Bar Association Task Force on Competition & Public Policy.

Cancellation Policy
All cancellations and requests for refunds must be submitted to the AMA via email at mweingarden@ama.org. Cancellations received by 3 May 2013 receive a refund minus a $150 early cancellation fee. Cancellations received after that date will receive a refund minus a $300 late cancellation fee. 

Registrants wishing to cancel may send someone to take their place without penalty if they send a written request with the replacement person’s name to info@ama.org​ at least two weeks prior to the event start date.

No refunds will be given as of 16 May 2013. 

A conference registration may not be shared by two or more individuals. Space is limited and on-site registration cannot be guaranteed. Separate cancellation policies may exist for pre-conference programs, tutorials, and other associated events. Hotel and transportation reservation cancellations must be handled by the individual registrant directly with the hotel, airline and/or other company.​

Consumer well-be​ing is at the heart of many of the most important global issues and initiatives. In the U.S., for example, recent healthcare and financial regulation debates are highly relevant to consumer well-being and have key economic implications. At MPPC 2013, we will explore critical issues at the nexus of consumer welfare and policy. Our goal is to feature research and facilitate dialogue offering innovative insights that will be useful to public policy makers, experts, and scholars.

2013 Marketing & Public Policy Workshop and Doctoral Seminar​, presented by Villanova Center for Public Policy and Marketing Research, showcases leading scholars in the field and allows them to interact with Ph.D. students and junior faculty intersted in public policy and marketing. Sessions cover methodological issues, new and substantive domains, successful publishing in the field, federal agency-based research topics, and discussions with editors of journals interested in marketing and policy issues. The reservation cut-off date is Monday, April 29, 2013.
The AMA has negotiated special group rates for the Marketing & Public Policy Conference. Please contact the Reservations Department directly at 1 800.424.8577 and refer to AMERICAN MARKETING ASSOCIATION or GROUP CODE 1305AMMARK. You must make your hotel reservations by April 29, 2013 to qualify for the special group rate (based on availability). After April 29, 2013, the rooms will be released for sale to the general public, and all reservations will be accepted on a space available basis at the hotel's available rate - not at the group rate. A deposit in the amount of (1) one night’s room & tax for each confirmed room will be due at time of booking. Deposits are refundable if cancellations are received by 4:00 p.m. EST one (1) day prior to arrival. In the event that a guest fails to check-in for a guaranteed reservation or cancels after the deadline, a non-refundable charge of one night room and tax will be charged to the credit card on file and the balance of the reservation will be cancelled.  

Check in time is 4:00 p.m., and check out is at 12:00 p.m. Anyone arriving earlier than 4:00 p.m. will be checked in as soon as a room(s) becomes available. Guests checking out early may be assessed an early departure fee. Upon check in, guests will be asked to verify their departure date.  At that time, scheduled departure dates may be altered.

Conference attire is business casual. Meeting rooms tend to be cool so you may wish to bring a sweater/jacket.

If you are an attendee with a disability and require program accommodations, please contact the AMA Meeting Services Department, and a member of our staff will ensure that appropriate access arrangements are made. If you have specific disability related needs for your hotel sleeping room, please be sure to communicate those directly to the hotel when you make your reservation. The hotel is easily accessible via Metro's Blue and Orange lines at McPherson Square Station or via the Red Line at Farragut North Station.
From McPherson Square, exit towards the White House, turn north on 15th Street and walk three blocks to The Madison.
From Farragut North, exit on Connecticut Avenue NW and L Street (NE side) and walk east on L Street for three blocks. Turn left at 15th Street and walk one block north to The Madison.
