2009 THEME
Contributions, Controversies, and Continuing Challenges in the Worlds of Consumer Protection and Competition
This conference is the premier event for marketing scholars and practitioners interested in topics related to social and public policy. It brings together an international roster of academics, marketing practitioners, government officials, consumer representatives, legal professionals and other interested parties to discuss current issues and research results pertaining to public policy issues in marketing.
In 2009, we will be pleased to be celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the Marketing & Public Policy Conference. This provides us a natural point at which to examine that which has changed in the marketing and policy environment over the years (e.g., the advent of the Internet, powerful developments in globalization). We thus anticipate dedicating a small portion of the conference to examination of advances and possible regresses on significant policy issues over time (e.g., regulatory actions and the consumer environment). During this conference we will also explore some key emerging topics for the future.
The conference co-chairs are seeking submissions of abstracts, completed research papers, and special session proposals that address significant and emerging issues at the intersection of public policy and marketing. Scholars and practitioners representing diverse theoretical perspectives and methodological approaches are encouraged to attend.
