AMA Volunteer Statement of Beliefs
Volunteers represent a key strategic asset of the AMA
- They provide an integral role in guiding the content deliverables to the membership
- Their in-market experience allows AMA content to be current and relevant to the various constituencies
- The work that they do on behalf of AMA allows far broader and deeper support to the membership than would otherwise be possible
In recognition of the importance of Volunteers to the organization, the AMA will:
- Treat our volunteers as partners
- Support our volunteers with appropriate resources
- Respond to their requests thoroughly and in a timely manner
- Truly appreciate the work that they do on behalf of AMA
- Acknowledge the contributions that they have made to the organization
- Thank them sincerely for their efforts

The AMA Board of Directors and its Councils are volunteer groups that provide advice and counsel to the AMA on activities for specific constituencies. Board of Directors and Council leadership are comprised of members who are appointed and who have been active with the AMA at both the national and local level. Each year, the AMA Nominating Committee identifies and selects candidates to stand for election for Council leadership and Board of Directors positions. A call for nominations is issued in June and nominations may be made by any action member of the AMA. Elections take place in the first quarter of the following year. Board and Council members may access information pertinent to their Council or Board via the secure sites listed below.
Academic Council
This secure site is for the use of the AMA's Academic Council and is intended to be useful for council members in preparing for and participating in council activities.
Academic SIG Leaders
This secure site provides resources, guidelines, and policies to help leaders develop and maintain strong, healthy SIGs.
Board of Directors
This secure site is for the exclusive use of the AMA's Board of Directors and is intended for use by Board of Directors in preparing for and participating in AMA Board activities.
Collegiate Council
This secure site is for the use of the AMA's Collegiate Chapters Council and is intended to be useful for council members in preparing and participating in council activities.
Knowledge Coalition
This secure site is for the exclusive use of the AMA's Knowledge Coalition. It includes information on current and historic meetings of the Coalition.
Marketing Insights Council
This secure site is for the use of the AMA's Marketing Insights Council and is intended to be useful for council members in preparing for and participating in council activities.
Professional Chapter Council
This secure site is for the use of the AMA's Professional Chapters Council and is intended to be useful for council members in preparing for and participating in council activities.
Professional Chapter Resources
This secure site is for the use of the leaders of the AMA's 78 Professional Chapters and is intended to help maintain strong, healthy Chapters.
